Darlington Raceway’s Speed and Feed 2014

Last weekend, the Darlington Raceway kicked off its second annual Speed and Feed BBQ Cook-Off and Classic Car Show. The two-day event was free to the public and especially exciting for all of the NASCAR fans, as the event took place inside of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series garage. Guests came pouring inside of the Too Tough To Tame gates, where they enjoyed lots of food and fun. The Speed and Feed included over 400 classic cars in its car show, BBQ cooked by over 40 cook teams from across the country, and incredible live musical performances. Friday night’s performance was by the local favorite, Painted Man, and Saturday’s tunes were cranked up by Nashville recording artists, Radio Romance. Although it’s just finished its second year, the Speed and Feed has quickly become a local favorite that’s sure to stick around for years to come.

We love BBQ…and cars.

This year, Jordan & Sons Plumbing and Electrical was thrilled to be a part of such an awesome event. We were excited to be asked to provide on-site emergency plumbing services throughout the event, but that wasn’t even the best part. Our owner, Anthony Jordan, was asked to join the officials of the South Carolina BBQ Association in judging this year’s BBQ competition. We weren’t sure how he would be able to sample over 40 different BBQs, but we were definitely supportive. The winner of the BBQ contest received a $2,500 cash prize, a pretty awesome trophy (with a BBQ grill on the top), and the chance to compete in 2015 World Food Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Speed and Feed Mixed Having Fun with Doing Good.

For a $10 donation, or five non-perishable food items, guests were able to take a few laps around the Darlington racetrack, while all of the proceeds went directly to The Lord Cares food bank in Darlington. The U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program was also on site and accepted donations for the holiday season.

Special Thanks!
