Today, we are facing an energy crisis and are becoming more and more aware of the consequences of our past decisions. Slowly, our global climate is undergoing a massive change. We are experiencing harsher winters, hotter summers, and storms that are more severe than any others recorded in our Earth’s history. This is our home, the only planet capable of sustaining our lives, but we must sustain it so that it may sustain us.

We’re going green in 2015! We are dedicating our new year to spreading the word about environmentally friendly plumbing and electrical practices that will not only help save our planet, but will also help you save money. Throughout the year, we will be posting news and updates to our followers on social media. Follow, friend, and like us for eco-friendly products, tips, and more on Facebook, TwitterInstagram, and Pinterest!

Below, you’ll find a sneak peek at 2 of the most innovative, energy saving inventions that the world has ever seen, as well as a few energy and money saving tips to apply in your home.

New Eco-Friendly Products:

Zero Energy Bio Refrigerator

Russian designer, Yuriv Dmitriev, has unveiled a zero energy refrigerator that uses a futuristic biopolymer gel, which is an odorless and non-sticky material that keeps your kitchen’s refrigerated items cool. You simply place objects in the gel, where they are suspended and kept cool. The gel reforms to its natural state after each object is removed.

Energy Saving Tips:

Water Filtration

If you don’t have a water filtration system in your home, you should really consider having one installed. A standard water filtration system is capable of purifying enough water to fill over 3,000 water bottles. If you didn’t purchase bottled water throughout the year, you could save tons of money. You could also lessen our nation’s dependency on crude oil production, which is required for plastic bottle production. Plastic bottles are made from a crude oil by-product and, in the United States, we use over 16 million barrels of it annually for this purpose alone.

Space Out Your Hot Water Usage

Space out your time between washing dishes, doing laundry, and showering, to avoid high energy costs.

Fix Leaking Faucets & Pipes

Often, people ignore the dripping faucet in their home, or become used to the constant dripping sound. However, even a slowly dripping kitchen sink can account for 14% of your household’s water usage. A leaky faucet can also be a sign of a much more serious, less visible issue that could end up costing you thousands of dollars in repairs. Fix leaks as soon as you notice them. Your pockets and the environment will thank you.
